These folks used their natural assets to lift up others from despair, homelessness, financial strife, abuse, loneliness and joblessness.

Testimonies:  Straight talk from the Volunteers who Make a Difference!

Our volunteers come from every walk of life.  But many times, people find an urge to give back once they’ve raised families and accomplished many of their own life’s goals.  We call this moving from “profits to purpose.”  Read about three of our volunteers who discovered the path to fulfillment – by giving themselves away.

We hosted an average of 50 YMCA residents at the ALPHA dinners, many of whom had endured so many problems in their life’s journey.  It was so gratifying to give those folks a place to connect, and hear God’s message of hope.”

My antlers just went up when I learned about Open Table’s mission to lift people out of poverty.  I was so moved by their process…it required work on the part of the individual, who is supported by a team, or “table,” of volunteers who lend direction and life-skills toward achieving independence.  I could relate to that…I knew how much it meant during a difficult season of my life to have the support of my family.  And I wanted to pass that along to others who had so much less.”

It really appeals to me, the notion of giving back.  I’ve struggled and overcome, and now I want to share what I’ve learned to help others.”
